Operating system and runtimeCheck the requirements for the current releaseInstall system updates first. If a runtime component is missing at startup, install the component specified in the error message.
Install locationA local folder you can write toExtract the entire archive before running the app. Do not launch it from the archive preview window.
PermissionsHandle standard settings separately from traffic captureTest the basic proxy first. Elevate permissions for TUN or service-related actions only when the client asks.

Once the download is complete, extract the archive to a permanent folder and check for the installer or launch file inside. An archive format does not necessarily mean the app is portable; follow the instructions for the files in the package. On first launch, create a subscription group, paste your link, update the subscription, then select a server. Do not keep switching system proxy settings before importing a configuration—you do not yet have a working outbound setup.

When upgrading from an older version, quit the client from the system tray and back up your settings first. Desktop and WPF may handle their interfaces and data differently, so use the client's export and import features when migrating. Once the system proxy is enabled, typically only apps that honor system proxy settings will use it. For traffic from other apps, see the Windows setup and configuration guide.

What to do after downloading

Handle installation, configuration, and connection testing separately. Change one type of setting at a time to make log errors easier to track down.

01 / INSTALL

Install and launch the client

Check your operating system, architecture, disk space, and folder permissions. Once the app opens, confirm that it can save settings before importing a subscription. If startup fails, resolve the runtime issue first; repeatedly changing subscriptions will not help diagnose the app itself.

02 / IMPORT

Import a subscription and select a server

Add a subscription link you are authorized to use to a group, update it, then check the server list. Subscription URLs may contain access credentials; do not share screenshots or forward them. If the list is empty, check the update logs and URL format first, then confirm the subscription is still valid.

03 / VERIFY

Test which traffic is routed

Select a server and start the service. Check the logs for configuration errors before enabling the mode you need. Test one app first, then check routing and DNS. When troubleshooting, record what happened and any error messages; avoid changing the server, proxy mode, and DNS settings all at once.

Installer selection and download FAQs

Which should you choose for Windows: Desktop or WPF?

Desktop uses a newer cross-platform interface and suits users who want a consistent experience across desktop platforms. WPF is the classic, stable edition for users familiar with the traditional Windows interface. Both options here are x64 packages; check your system type before installing.

Which Android version should you choose: arm64 or universal?

Most mainstream phones released after 2015 are best served by arm64, but check which app architectures your device supports. Choose the universal version if you are unsure of your device's architecture or the arm64 installer reports an incompatibility. Universal packages generally include more architectures and may be larger.

Why are there no servers after installing the client?

The installer provides the client app, not a subscription or server. Obtain a subscription link or server configuration you are authorized to use, import it, update the subscription, then select a server and check the logs.

What should you back up before upgrading?

Use the client's export or backup feature to save your configuration first. Note your subscription groups, routing rules, custom DNS settings, and listening ports, then quit the client. Do not assume data directories are interchangeable between interface versions or different clients.

What if the download fails or the browser does not start saving the file?

Check your browser's download history, available disk space, and save permissions, then retry the same installer link. A static download link remains available if the page script cannot load the version list. If the issue persists, note when it happened, your platform, package format, and the browser message before checking your network or download settings.

Should you enable TUN mode on first launch?

Import a subscription and verify a basic connection first, then choose system proxy or TUN based on your needs. Desktop TUN may require elevated permissions; Android requests system VPN approval when the proxy service starts for the first time. Before switching modes, pause other network tools that might capture the same traffic.
